Our Values

In pursuing our purpose at EFBC, we will follow a path defined by core values. How we get there is just as important to God as that we get there! We have identified ten core values at EFBC which we believe God has put at the heart of our ministry. We will adhere to these values without compromise.

In pursuing our purpose at EFBC, we will follow a path defined by core values. How we get there is just as important to God as that we get there! We have identified ten core values at EFBC which we believe God has put at the heart of our ministry. We will adhere to these values without compromise.

Bible Centered – We believe that the Bible is God’s living, powerful, relevant, active word and that we can trust it, believe it, and apply it with the confidence that in so doing, we will be following God’s best for our lives. (Romans 12:7; 2 Timothy 3:16-17; James 1:23-25)

Worship Focused – We believe that God created us in His own image, thus uniquely equipping us for a vital relationship with Him which is ultimately expressed as we worship Him in spirit and in truth. (John 4:19-24)

Prayer Dependent – We believe that God has invited us into a dynamic relationship with Himself in which we experience His power and direction for life through the consistent, prevailing, and believing practice of prayer. (Matthew 6:5-14; 7:7-12)

Grace Extending – We believe that salvation is a gift of God’s pure grace which comes to us undeserved and free. As God receives and sustains us by grace, so should we reflect the spirit and acceptance of grace to all people. (Philipians 2:1-11; Ephesians 1:3-14)

Maturity Building – We believe that salvation is but the first step on the road to spiritual maturity to which God calls His people, and that the church is responsible to help Christians become more and more like Jesus Christ. (Ephesians 4:25-26, 32; Hebrews 12:1; Philipians 1:6)

People Empowering – We believe that God has graced believers with powerful spiritual gifts which uniquely fit them for effective service to Christ and the church, whose responsibility it is to empower people in the use of those gifts. (1 Corinthians 12, 14; Romans 12; Ephesians 4; Psalms 133:1)

Needs Meeting – We believe that rendering encouragement, assistance, support and love is the duty of Christians as they live in spiritual community with one another under Christ’s Lordship. (1 Corinthians 13; Nehemiah 3; Luke 10:1; John 13:34-34)

Outreach Oriented – We believe that lost people matter to God, and therefore our responsibility as a church is to reach out to them in love with the hope of the gospel. (Luke 5:30-32; Luke 15; Matthew 18:14)

Culturally Relevant – We believe that we are called to communicate the good news of the love of God to our generation, and that we do this most effectively by using forms and styles familiar to the culture. (1 Corinthians 9:19-23)

Globally Concerned – We believe that the gospel of salvation through Christ is for the whole world, and that the church cannot rest until the whole world has heard the good news. (Matthew 28:18-20)

In the pursuit of God’s purpose for His people and in accord with the core values outlined above, EFBC invites you to join us as we engage our community and world for the cause of Christ.
